DOME C
This place has been stripped clean. Every drawer is open. Broken suspended-animation pods line the walls. Bodies lie at the bottom, each a failed variation on the same humanoid frame. Their skeletons vary, but all retain a human axial structure. Tissue has grown unevenly around them. Some still have a blend of skin and synthetic tissue. All were made in pairs.
At the center are two stasis chambers. One is empty. The other holds a small mass of cells, fungus, and tissue suspended in thick liquid. It shifts against the glass. Still alive. The machinery is simple enough to operate: enter the empty chamber and start the process.
